As a child, I was encouraged to spend a lot of time doing a range of creative activities, such as sewing, painting, drawing, and embroidery. These, combined with my background education in design and anthropology, have influenced my work today. I use and teach art and creativity as grounding activities, meaning they combat against depression and anxiety, making it a self-care and meditative practice. Anthropology has taught my that we've been conditioned from childhood to believe a certain reality, such as "I'm either talented and good at art or science, not both." But I've come to believe that if we can change our mindset about who is"creative," and we welcome the ability to try painting as adults even if we don't have this skill already. As an artist, I work with watercolor, gouache, acrylics and oil. I teach drawing skills, how to interpret and create color, seeing spatial relations and simply how we to start art projects and progress. I have worked with adults as old as 98 and children as young as three. Let me show you how art can transform your free time and benefit your mental health, all while creating beautiful art for your home, family and friends!
